LogisVert is the new financial assistance program that was launched by Hydro-Québec over the summer of 2023, encouraging homeowners to carry out energy-efficient renovations. In the hopes of favouring an energy-efficient transition while also reducing the carbon footprint left behind by residential buildings, this program was established to financially aid homeowners who are considering improving the energy efficiency of their homes. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the primary factors encompassing the LogisVert program and its eligibility criteria.

LogisVert has for purpose of encouraging homeowners to adopt renovation measures promoting energy efficiency. This new program was established in the hopes of replacing subsidies already available in 2023, further benefiting future beneficiaries with better, and a greater number, of subsidies. Note that even if the majority of subsidies are meant for homeowners, some are still accessible to property tenants.
Who’s eligible?
This program has three tiers. It’s meant for current homeowners and property tenants as well as new construction owners. It also applies to installation and construction companies.
Here’s a list of renovations covered in the residential tier and the corresponding financial assistance:
Roof insulation and caulking: $1,500
Efficient heat pump installation: up to $6,270
Induction range: $250
Heat pump dryer: $250
High-efficient heat pump and caulking work: $140 per 1,000 BTU/h at 8°C (up to $7,800)
Pool pump and solar collectors: $300
Here’s what’s available in the installer-dedicated tier:
Hydro-Québec makes it possible for installers to provide financial aid to their clients during the sale and installation of eligible equipment. Companies deduct from their client invoices the amount equal to the awarded financial assistance since they’ll then request a refund from Hydro-Québec.
The financial aid varies according to the type of equipment installed, with amounts of $15,000 for the sale and installation of an electric thermal storage heating system, $22,000 for an electric thermal storage heating system and central heat pump, and $750 per 1,000 BTU/h for the sale and installation of a geothermal heat pump.
In the construction builder tier:
Construction companies or real estate development companies focused on building houses, duplexes, or 19-unit or less buildings can benefit from financial aid by integrating energy-efficient measures during the construction process.
The financial assistance options vary based on the devices installed and the home type. Using a house as an example, adding an Energy Star® air exchanger and hot water solar thermal collectors, owners can access $22,000 in financial aid.
In other cases, the financial aid is granted based on the per 1,000 BTU/h, determined by the equipment installed.
How to Benefit from this Subsidy
The steps to submit a financial aid request are as follows:
Create a participant profile and request financial aid via the www.logisvert.ca web portal. (Only available in French)
The financial assistance request is then assessed.
The compliance is verified.
Financial aid is paid out.
Also, note that if an eligible individual presents several distinctive energy-efficient measures within a single financial aid request, they may receive a 5% bump in the total financial assistance granted, provided that all program-specific requirements are met.
The financial aid granted cannot exceed 100% of the retail price and equipment installation costs, meaning a $250,000 maximum per household for the duration of the program.

The LogisVert program plays a key role in Quebec’s energy transition by encouraging homeowners to renovate their homes in an energy-efficient manner. Courtesy of this subsidy, it’s now more affordable for homeowners to carry out energy-efficient renovations, which directly contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. On top of the savings made, energy-efficient renovations may also improve indoor comfort and increase the building’s resale value.
Available Retroactive Requests
The financial assistance granted by LogisVert relates to all eligible renovations carried out by January 1, 2023. It’s important to note that residential customers must proceed according to specific guidelines, while other steps encompass the process for installers (companies carrying out the installation) or builders. The application process must be done within the 9 months following the installation.

While traditional, wood-burning stoves have been flagged by the City of Montréal for their high levels of pollution, the current by-law regarding the use of less pollutant models is also to come under review. As such, in 2020, all solid fuel-burning appliances were banned, except for pellet stoves. The latter are still tolerated, even though they can only be used during smog-free periods.
