5. A stand for gender equality with an eco-village in Beirut
Firm Anastasia Elrouss Architects presented their new project called “Eco-Village: Urban Lung of Beirut”, a tower that would offer residences, workshops and retail spaces, but also agricultural activities on the lower levels. The article also mentions:
“The tower, in conjunction with an off-site wooden pavilion and urban farm, would function as a vocational training and cultural center specifically aimed at empowering Lebanese women through agricultural and self-sustainable skill-building.”

For their kitchen of the week (week of July 27th), Remodelista shares the remodel of Edinburgh architect couple Luke and Joanne McClelland. Their secret? It’s all Ikea. Restricted by a small budget, both worked around affordable materials with what they had retained from past projects and client demands: simple, minimal and symmetrical.
